Brace yourselves, this is a doozy of a journal entry.

Well, it's been one of those weeks in which I somehow manage to get a lot accomplished even before the week's halfway over. O.O First off, my students submitted their first drafts of their major assignment a week ago this past Monday. I was able to grade them by Saturday and distribute them back with only a few of them having to resubmit the Drafts. There's still one or two having some trouble, but that's typical from what my supervisor tells me. I just hope they can pull it together for Draft 2. (I know this is from last week, but both these weeks have been kind of blurs, and the end of last week works in for this week!)

Last Wednesday, I had my first interview for an Assistant Law Librarian position. I thought it went well and I left them with a good impression. The librarian and I had a sort of bonding moment when I told her that I was taking Aikido as she had taken Tae Kwon Do back in the day. I think that really helped me connect with her, which is good, and she seems like a really nice person who I could definitely work with on a daily basis. But really though, it takes a lot to irk me when it comes to the workplace. Anyway, at the end of my interview, I was told that they would contact all of the interviewed candidates in regards to whether they were one of the final candidates and this process could take up to two weeks. On Friday, I get an email from them saying that I was one of the final 3 candidates and I was to schedule a time for a second interview this week. Huzzah! There were two things I needed to do before coming in for my interview...complete the application available online and to write up a Statement of Motivation explaining what my greatest motivator was for wanting this job. I had both of those done by Monday, so I felt somewhat confident.

My second interview was this morning at 10:30 am, and I was able to actually speak with the head of administration, the gentleman I went to meet while they were still in the process of receiving resumes. I thought putting a face to the resume would be a good idea, and as it turned out, it was. Today's interview was about meeting me as a person not only as a professional and deciding which of the 3 candidates would best fit into their organization. I was really positive and hopefully clear in my answers to his questions, so I'm really hoping it went well. After the interview, I went by the library to talk with my mentor from when I interned there to tell her all the news. She was excited and said it's a good sign to get in for a second interview, and I would have to agree since I was one of 3 out of 20 interviewed candidates.

Lastly, I ran a lot of errands within the past hour and a half, my main one being to mail three 'thank you' notes to the interviewing employers. If anything they will remember me as a polite individual who wants to serve her community. I also went by the bank, then Hastings to see if they had the next volume of Lone Wolf and Cub that I needed (they did!), and finished off at the gas station. I'll need to go and check on my laundry soon and put it in the dryer, and then at 9 pm I have another chat with my students to answer any questions they might have. Hopefully my supervisor will be able to attend, though if he's still feeling badly from the flu, I think I can handle it solo another go around like last Wednesday. They're good students for the most part, just very inquisitive, which is also a good attribute. It's just a bit tough answering all of their questions when you're not always sure if it's the correct one. But as my dad always tells me, "If you're not making mistakes, you're not really working." And I try to live by that saying and the saying that it's not the end of the world if you make a mistake...unless of course you're in charge of a nuclear reactor.

Anyway that's been my last week and a half, so it's been rather busy. We'll know for sure about the job by next Thursday, so even though I'm hoping for the best I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst. In any case, if I don't get the job, it just wasn't the right one for me...no matter how much I believe it is.
